At time you want to uninstall an antivirus or antispyware software from your computer. May be for switching to some other security application. It often happens that the uninstall procedure leaves some of the entries in the system despite of uninstalling via Windows or the application’s uninstall option. The remaining entries may pose problem in the installation of the new application. Even if they doesn’t cause any problem in any other installation, they should be removed completely simply because they are not required any more.

So,  how to uninstall an antivirus/antispyware application completely from a computer?

Here comes AppRemover for the rescue. The software is developed by OPSWAT Inc  and supports almost all versions of Windows operating system, namely Windows 2000, 2003, XP (32 / 64 bit), Vista (32 / 64 bit), Windows 7 beta. You can download it free from download AppRemover.

Its quite simple to use it. AppRemover doesn’t require installation. Just double click on its icon and follow the ‘Next’ button . Below are the steps :

1) Double click onAppRemover’s exe file which you have downloaded.

2) Click ‘Next’. AppRemover will detect the antivirus/antispyware applications installed in the system and take you to the screen where you need to select the application which you want to uninstall.

3) Select the application which you want to uninstall and click ‘Next’.

Its done.  Do make sure that you run AppRemover as an Administrator or as a user belonging to the ‘Administrators’ user group.

AppRemover can uninstall most of the major antivirus/antispyware software but it has not covered all the application. For example, it doesn’t detect Superantispyware. Therefore, it may not show some application in step 2(above). You can take a look at supported applications page to find all the applications whose uninstallation is currectly supported by AppRemover.
