[How to] Hide labels from the subject lines of e mails in Gmail

All the persons who have Gmail account must be aware about ‘Labels’ which can be used to mark emails. Below is an example. Here Tech2know mails is a label.

Labels

Though it is a useful feature but it may pose difficulty in reading an e mail’s subject line on notebooks because of limited screen space.  Now, you can remove labels from email’s subject lines very easily via ’settings’ –> Labels –> Remove. But, this will permanently remove the labels from the subject and you won’t be able to view the same when you switch from notebook to a desktop or a laptop with a wider screen.  So, what to do??

Well, Google has come up with a feature with the help of which you can temporarily hide Labels in the subject lines leaving the space for the subject itself.  Just go to ‘Settings’ –> ‘Labs’ –> ‘Remove Labels from Subjects’ –> ‘Enable’ –> ’save changes’. Below is a screenshot/image of this feature. Once you enable this feature, it’ll hide labels from the subject subject lines. Just disable it and the labels will reappear in the subject lines.
