Easy steps to protect your computer from Spywares
Well, Spywares is a term which require no introduction. These small piece of malicious code tries to find a way inside your computer and steel your valuable personal information. Quite obviously not for a good cause
. The strategy which spywares adapts to infect a system is ‘exploiting software loopholes’. Apart from steeling the information, Spywares may initial installation of additional software without one’s consent or knowledge. Presence of spywares in a system can be indicated by the following behaviour of the system :
1) Unwanted/excess disk usage
2) System crashes
3) Software freezing
4) Higher CPU utilization
5) Slow internet connection speed
A spyware can infect your system via infectious software download. This is very common method and called as ‘piggy-backing’. The best way to prevent this type of attack is, DO NOT download unknown programs from unknown sources.
A very deceiving method through which a spyware can infect your system is ‘Through Antispyware Program’ itself. These are freeware which available on web for download and are suppose to be ANTI-Spyware. These are called as ‘Rogue’ antispyware programs. Examples of such malicious programs include Spylocked, Antivirus Gold, Spy wiper and WorldAntiSpy. So, if you are searching for an antispyware program for your system then do some extensive research before downloading and installing one. You can read reviews of the selected one on trusted websites. There is plenty of reviews available on net. Just Google
.
Spyware can infect your system through a link in a mail. Now a days, whom so ever has an e mail account is very much familiar with the word Spam. These are burden on our mailbox and may contain a malicious link and attachment. The mail can be from any unknown source or a source and attempt to trick people so that they can click on the link provided in the mail or download the attachment. Once you click on the link or download the attachment, it triggers installation of spyware without your knowledge. So, what should be the way of prevention in this case. Well, its no big secret. All you have to do is DO NOT click on any link or download any attachment received via an e mail from unknown source.
Now, if by chance you have already clicked on a malicious link, it is still possible to avoid installation of unwanted software if you have set our browser to ask before downloading and installing anything. This functionality is available in almost all the browsers and most of us are using this. If you are the one who is not then do in now. But, certain web pages can override this protection through security holes in browsers and install spyware on the user’s machine. Yes, this is true. So, you just need to update your browser with latest security updates to get rid of security holes.
As we all know that prevention is always better that cure. Then why not to adapt above very simple ways and prevent spyware to install at the first instance.
