Enjoy Tabbed View of Notepad with Free NotepadTabs

All of us are very well aware of the famous text editor in Windows family of operating systems. Yes, I am talking about Notepad. Whenever we want to save, copy and paste some text, we quickly go for ‘Run’—>’Notepad’.

One of the limitation of Notepad is its inability to show multiple text files in Tabbed view. This, at times, becomes a bit irritating when you find your taskbar full of multiple sessions of Notepad.  So, what to do?

Here comes a free utility called NotepadTabs to solve the purpose. As the name suggests, it gives you Tabbed view of multiple text files. Through NotepadTabs you can View multiple text files in a single notepad. Easily switch from one file to another through tabs at the top of the frame.

System Requirements :

Notepad Tabs works on every Windows Operating System. It only needs .Net Framework 2.0 or later versions. If your computer lacks one, during setup process Microsoft’s .Net Framework download page will be opened.

Below is a screen shot of NotepadTabs showing two tabs:

Now, it has become very easy to navigate between different text files without worrying about the number of sessions crowding your taskbar.

One of the feature which I liked the most, of course apart from the primary feature of opening multiple text files in Tabbed format, is that, it allows to save all opened tabs at the same time before closing the application.

User interface is made colourful with default theme Office2007-Black, you can choose from 6 themes as shown below  :

You can download it from download NotepadTabs. Installation is no more than a few clicks on well known ‘Next’ button.

To make NotepadTabs the default text editor, right click the txt file and choose “Open With”, then click Browse and go to the NotepadTabs directory under the Program Files and select NotepadTabs.exe. In the “Open With” window, click the checkbox and press OK.
