Whenever we think of a PDF file, the first name that comes into mind is Acrobat Reader from Adobe. Which no doubt, is a very well know and most widely used reader for PDF files.

Now we have another PDF file reader which, I personally feel, is not less than the others. This PDF reader is from Nuance and called as Nuance PDF Reader.

There are some features of in Nuance PDF Reader which makes it different from others. Below are the same :

Allows you to completely disable Java Script

Hackers can use JavaScript to gain control of your computer and your personal information. That’s why, unlike Adobe Reader, Nuance PDF Reader can be installed with JavaScript turned off. So you gain peace of mind knowing that your valuable data is protected. If needed, JavaScript can be turned on easily during the installation process. Below is the screen shot which ask ask you if you want to disable Java Script

Convert PDF files to Word, Excel, or RTF

Yes, you can convert a PDF file to Word, Excel or RF  formats by using Nuance PDF Reader. Actually, this is an online service which can be invoked from within Nuance PDF Reader. It requires you to transfer the PDF document to free Nuance online service. For security purpose, the document will be encrypted before it is transferred.  For converting a PDF document, just open the documents in Nuance reader and click on ‘Convert PDF’ on toolbar.

Once you click on ‘Convert PDF’, a popup will give you information that the document needs to be sent to online service and will be encrypted before transferred. Just click ok ‘Yes’ and you will be presented with a screen(in browser) which ask you to choose the format to which you want to convert the PDF file. Below is the same

Select the format of your choice, fill in your mail id and click on ‘GO’. The converted document will be sent to the mail id.

I tried the conversion feature and converted a PDF document to word format. Believe me guys, the converted word document was really good in terms of quality.

Apart from above two features, Nuance PDF Reader offers some more features like Fill and save PDF forms, Annotate PDFs, Integration with Microsoft SharePoint etc.
