All of us are very well aware of the term editor. Be it plain text or programming language like PHP, HTML, C++ etc. We all use specific editors for the purpose. Obviously because they make our work quite easy. How?? Well, because editors have specific features like syntax check, auto completion, displaying the syntax in various colours and code folding to enhance comprehensibility etc. When we think of an editor which can be used for multiple languages then one name that comes in mind is Dreamweaver. Its a good editor but not Free

I just came across an editor called RJ TextEd which supports multiple languages and the best part is, its FREE . Below is a screen shot of RJ TextEd.

From the picture above, its quite clear that RJ TextEd support a number of programming languages.

RJ TextEd is a full featured text and source editor with Unicode support, syntax highlighting and code folding. The functionality extends beyond text files and includes support for HTML editing with integrated preview, spell checking, auto completion, HTML validation, templates and more. The program also include support for Topstyle Lite CSS editor, has a dual pane file commander, as well as a FTP client to upload your files.

Supported operating systems

I tested it on Windows XP, Windows Vista(both 32 bit) and it worked fine.

Installation

The setup file is approximately 9 MB in size and installing RJ TextEd is just a matter of clicking the well known ‘Next’ button a few times.
